New Bloc Party Album

Since this is only the first real post i'm making, i should say that i have been a huge bloc party fan for quite some time now (actually, the title of this blog is from a bloc party song). they're really the only band i've ever been obsessed over, the only band that has ever had an impact on the daily goings-ons of my life. anywho, they've spent the last year touring, with little drips of information about the album being dropped throughout the summer. they've been playing some songs from the new album from as far back as tuesday, but there has been nothing but speculation about the album itself since then.

that is, until now. last week, on their official webpage, the band announced that the new Bloc Party album, A Weekend in the City, will be released Tuesday, February 6th here in the states. The tracklist is as follows:

  1. Song For Clay (Disappear Here)
  2. Hunting for Witches
  3. Waiting for the 7.1.8.
  4. The Prayer
  5. Uniform
  6. On
  7. Where is Home?
  8. Kreuzberg
  9. I Still Remember
  10. Sunday
  11. SRXT
Alot of great tracks have been left off the album, but that leads to alot of excitement about B-sides and the sort.

Anyway, you should check it out. the album is going to be amazing, alot different from their last one. if you haven't heard any bloc songs before (or any of the new ones), you should most certainly check out this video of "Hunting for Witches," played at the Paredes de Coura Festival over the summer. It isn't the best version of the song, but it is the best quality i've been able to find since hearing it at McCarren Park in Brooklyn.

Long Live, and God Bless Bloc Party.
